Dahlia campanulata is a wild relative of the giant Tree Dahlia, that comes from Mexico. Large, drooping white flowers that turn pink to red toward the centers resemble delicate handkerchiefs.
Plants are perennial, with four- or five-angled stems. The compound leaves are up to 20" long. Flower heads are pendulous and up to 7" in diameter, which are some of the largest in the genus. White nodding flowers with a bright pink center, graduating to a slightly darker shade toward the center or base, with darker veins. It is related to the giant Tree Dahlia, but it doesn't grow quite as large - about 6-8 feet tall. This is very hard-to-find. It is a cloud forest plant and accustomed to relatively cool days. Protect from frost. Zones 9-11. Container suitable.
