Member of the Asteraceae or Compositae (aster) family. Common family members include sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum, gerbera, and lettuce. The brilliant yellow hue and dense spherical shape of Craspedia globosa make it a striking addition to both fresh and dried arrangements. Known as the "billy button,", billy balls" or "drumstick". Blooming June to August, the 1" globes last and last. Long, sturdy stems. Height 3'. Full sun. Zone 6-9. Half-hardy Annual. Flower heads are tough and durable, making an exceptional dried flower. Long, rugged stems also make excellent fresh bouquets. Perennial in parts of the South; frequently grown as an annual elsewhere.
