Calabrese Green Sprouting broccoli is the real thing, when talking Italian broccoli. The whole plant is edible, from the long thin stems to the dainty florets on top. Equally tender in a stir-fry or side dish, a way more time-saving crop to grow than the familiar large headed variety. An Italian heirloom brought to the US by immigrants in the 1880s, Calabrese Green Spouting broccoli plants grow 18-30 inches high and produce 3-6 inch blue-green central heads that are followed by prolific smaller side shoots. 48 - 60 Days.
