This spectacular tree is grown for its awesome ornamental bark with showy multicolored patches that cover the trunk.
Commonly planted as a stately, ornamental street tree in tropical regions. Clouds of white blooms on Spring. Each year patches of the bark are shed at different times, exposing bright inner green bark. As the bark matures it slowly turns blue, then orange, lime green, purple and maroon. The tree does best in warm, humid areas in the US. Does not tolerate frost.
