This plant grows from 3 - 6 feet tall depending on your location producing maroon red blooms from fall to spring. Features deep burgundy, maple-shaped leaves with serrated edges, which is an attractive look similar to a Japanese Maple. This tropical plant shoots up in no time, adds color to the garden for months, and needs almost no care to keep it happy. Adds awesome color and dramatic height to landscapes and containers.
Starts out green when in seedling stage but with light exposure quickly turns dark. The more sun it gets the darker the leaves. If grown in the shade the leaves will be green with red veins. Keep them warm and feed regularly and you can have this beauty no matter were you live. It prefers to grow in moist to wet soil, and will even tolerate some standing water. Easy from seeds. Protect from freezing. As a freeze can kill this plant. Annual or zone 9+.
