A beautiful upright, bushy, evergreen foliage plant that is typically grown as a houseplant, popular for its tolerance of neglect and poor growing conditions. Makes also a showy specimen shrub outdoors in USDA zones 9 -11 where it can grow around 10 feet high with an umbrella like canopy 6 to 10 feet wide. Each stem tip has five to nine shiny leaves that are arranged in a circular, or umbrella shape. The plant prefers higher light if possible, but can adapt to a wide variety of light levels. The more light, the bushier the plants.
