This ornamental herb makes a striking accent plant for hanging baskets and window boxes. Plants produce wiry stems with small, rounded, light blue-green heart shaped leaves. Short rose shaped bracts that start out a light green hue and gain a pink-tinge as it ages. Small pinkish-lavender flowers peek out between bracts. Perfect for hanging baskets, or in borders and rock gardens; can also be dried for use in dried flower arrangements.
Plants perform well in hot climates and will tolerate periods of drought. Full sun and well drained soil. Sow direct after danger of frost in spring or indoors 4-6 weeks prior to last expected frost date for earliest blooms. Grows 4 inches tall. Flowers from summer to first frost. Growing zones 7-9 or as a container plant that can be protected from hard winters. It is considered non culinary as it has no flavor.
