The amazing fruits look a bit like a kiwano (C. metuliferus) but has yellow spines and last longer. The fruits are beautiful and come in a variety of shapes and colors. They are also known as "prickly cucumbers" or "deco melons".
The plant is a vine that needs warmth and can grow to be 47–70 in tall. It flowers in the summer, from June to September, and the fruits are ready to harvest in late summer or early autumn. The plant is not a real climber but more a trailing type. Fruit size is approximate 3 inches. The light green fruits have spectacular large yellow spines.
