The New England Aster is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant in the aster family. It is native to almost every area in North America east of the Rocky Mountains, but excluding the far north of Canada as well as some of the southern United States. It was introduced to Europe in 1710. The magnificent blooms of New England Aster highlight the late season landscape with rich colors ranging from deep violet to lavender-pink, with yellow-orange centers. Large and showy this aster can grow up to six feet high. Perennial zone 3-8.
The plant attracts butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and makes an excellent cut flower.
