Also known as Stemless Gentian, Trumpet Gentian, Blauer Enzian this plant has beautiful, intense electric-blue trumpet-shaped blooms on dark green foliage, blooming in late summer and early fall. This woodland native is best grown in moist, rich, cool, humusy, acidic soil. If left undisturbed, it will form a large clump over time. This native European mountaineer displays disproportionately large flowers (2 ½” inches long) for the plant's otherwise small scale. Beautiful and not very common in gardens. Container Suitable. Zones 3-8.
