Sweetshade, also known as Native Frangipani, is an ideal landscaping shrub, perfect for any garden, and a great street tree. It's fast-growing, with shiny green leaves, eventually growing to 20' tall. Not to be confused with tropical Plumerias.
The fragrance is amazing. From spring till fall, your garden will be filled with the scent of orange blossoms. Clusters of creamy blooms darken to gold with a tinge of red, attracting birds and honeybees as well as people. Native to Australia, Sweetshade does best in zones 9-10, sun or partial shade, prefers moist air, infrequent deep watering. Container suitable. Seeds germinate within a few weeks, providing enough plants for your entire neighborhood.
