Mimosa pudica, also called sleepy plant and the touch-me-not, is a creeping perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound, fern-like leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, to protect them from predators, re-opening minutes later. Pink 1" inch round bloom. The species is native to South America and Central America and grows mostly in shady areas, under trees or shrubs in zone 9-11 and does great in containers as a houseplant or bonsai. Great science and education project with endless entertainment for Kids!
