Pink Banana is a tropical perennial in the banana family that is generally grown as an ornamental. It is hardy to zone 7b and will die to the ground with the cold but reappear in spring. The Pink Banana is a small grower, typically 4 feet tall, maxing out at 6-7 feet tall. These trees produce prolific flower stalks at the top of the trunk beginning late summer. Each of these becomes a small, bright pink banana that peels itself when ripening. Perfect as an exotic decorative house plant, large container or potted patio plant or in the garden. It prefers humusy moist well-drained soils in full sun. In colder regions, it will need to be brought indoors or to a greenhouse.
