This evergreen, herbaceous perennial beauty deserves consideration for inclusion in southern gardens. It’s an erect, often-multi-stemmed plant with dark green, droopy, slender, and long leaves. It’s especially loved for its papery, trumpet-shaped electric purple flowers. The plant produces a succession of profuse two-inch flowers daily from spring through fall. These plants are very attractive to butterflies, which makes them popular choices in many gardens. Though Mexican petunias are highly adaptable to most soil types, they grow better in fertile soil that is well drained. Container suitable. Perennial Zones 8-11.
