Ginkgo biloba is also commonly known as the living fossil, maiden hair tree or tree with a golden crown. It is one of the oldest trees mainly found in China, Japan, Korea and other countries with temperate climate. It is a tall tree of the height ranging between 60 ft. It is identified by its bilobed leaves, which turn golden yellow in autumn before falling. It has silver seeds with a fleshy seed coat. The stem of the tree is can adapt to tough environmental conditions and survive for very long time, with some trees more than 1500 years old. They can be kept artificially small as a pot plant or Bonsai.
