This is a traffic stopper. The attractive shrub is named for its flower buds which grow in a column and look like fat yellow candles each complete with a flame! Senna alata is a beautiful ornamental plant and highly prized for it's medicinal properties. The large leaves fold together at night.
It is an evergreen tropical shrub that typically grows to 12-30’ tall in its native habitat. In the southern US states it can grow rapidly to 6-8’ tall in a single growing season. Perennial in zones 9+.
