Ginkgo biloba is also commonly known as the living fossil, maiden hair tree or tree with a golden crown. It is one of the oldest trees mainly found in countries with temperate climate. It is a tall tree of the height ranging between 60 ft. It is identified by its bilobed leaves, which turn golden yellow in autumn before falling. It has silver seeds with a fleshy seed coat. The stem of the tree is can adapt to tough environmental conditions and survive for a very long time, with some trees more than 1500 years old. They can be kept artificially small as a pot plant or Bonsai. Leaves and leaf extracts of Ginkgo have medicinal values. Zones 3-8.
