Listed in the 1890s as Striped-Leafed Japanese Maize, this beautiful ornamental flint corn from Japan grows 5-6 ft. tall and has variegated leaves striped with green, white, yellow and pink. The tassels are dark purple, the kernels are burgundy. Makes a stunning border or accent. For better color development plant widely spaced. Makes great popcorn or cornbread flour or a very ornamental striped "grass" for containers (where it remains small) or border accents.
