An highly ornamental shrub with small divided silvery grey leaves and clusters of vivid red "parrot's beak" flowers dangling from stems in spring. Bright coppery pink inflated fruits follow the flowers and are very ornamental. Best in sun, with well drained soil and moderate to occasional watering. In the wild, the plant can become quite woody and reaches a height of 3 feet, in a container about 2 feet. It is regarded as the most profound and multi-purpose of the medicinal plants in African areas. Zone 7b -11
