Swertia perennis is a very pretty mountain wildflowers, producing compact, elongated clusters of purple-petaled flowers which contrast with the rich green foliage. Blue star-like, interesting flowers, in late summer/fall makes it a desirable addition to any Northern garden.
It prefers a moist location, but it doesn’t really have to be ‘marshy’; a location temporarily wet, and where watering is done more frequently should work well. Hardy perennial zones 3-6.
