Native to Chile and Argentina, Calceolaria herbeohybrida, also known as Pouch Flower, Pocketbook Plant or Slipper Flowers, is a small, tender, bushy, evergreen sub-shrub typically grown as an annual with oblong, veiny, dull-green leaves with hairy undersides.
The Calceolaria will bear beautiful bright flowers for about 7 weeks, from the middle of spring to the end of summer. It is an annual plant. The flowers come in grapes at the top of the stems. The flowers actually look like small slippers. It makes an excellent interior plant and flourishes for a long time. Hardiness zones 8-9 in winter.
