Garden Huckleberries are actually a relative of the tomato. The 1/2" dark purple berries with sweet fruity flavor and can be eaten fresh. Make a good jam or pie filling. Highly pigmented. Plants are larger 3-4' feet. Produce well. Full sun. From Mexico, but originated the tropics of western Africa.
The berries are edible when they have turned from green to black. The plant has roots that can survive mild winters. Easy to sow and cultivate with an abundance of berries. Allow berries to fully mature.
