The Sesbania formosa is known as the White Dragon Tree or Swamp Corkwood. This hard to find tree is amazingly quick growing to only about 10-15 Ft in height, with a straight trunk. Makes a great tree for smaller yards. It is native to south-east Asia and northern Australia.
Has corky bark and graceful pinnate (pea-like) foliage and bears beautiful, large, creamy white, sickle shaped flowers, usually in pairs. The leaves & flowers are edible; the leaves are steamed, boiled, sauteed, even fried and dipped in butter. The bark, leaves, gum, and flowers are considered medicinal in many ways as well.
