Also known as Cry Baby, Cockspur or Brazilian Coral Tree. Erythrina crista-galli is an exotic deciduous shrub that can become a tree with age. It can reach up to 18 ft tall, although it is often smaller. This Erythrina has show-stopping red-coral to bright red flowers which generally appear in summer. Flowers are grouped in clusters, and are typical of the Fabaceae family. Leaves are deciduous, alternate and composed.
This tree can withstand negative temperatures down to about 20 F. However, the foliage will be damaged below 26 F. Bonsai suitable.
