Evergreen flowering shrub or tree to 10-15' tall. Foliage to 7" long, thin, downy, tapering at the petiole; flowers tubular, to 1" long, purplish-red, subtended by a showy red to magenta bract. Resembles Mussaenda spp. or Warszewiczia spp. in overall appearance.
