Irish Moss is a fine-textured, ground hugging, slightly mounded perennial which resembles moss. The plant will take light foot traffic when placed between stepping-stones. During early to midsummer, the moss is covered with tiny white star shaped flowers. Thrives in sun or partial shade. It needs moisture retentive, gritty, well-drained soil. Zones 5 –10. Excellent for Bonsai carpet, terrariums, miniature and fairy gardens (see images for inspiration)
