Also known as Pope's Bean and Chestnut bean, this is a large, flat beautiful bean of a light cream color with pink to maroon markings. This heirloom pole bean dates back to the 1840s and has been a favorite for many generations. It has a butter-like texture and a wonderful chestnut-like flavor. The bean's chestnut flavor combined with its festive coloring are the reason for the name Christmas beans.
Broad, flat pods, 5 to 6 inches long, medium green. Plants reach a height of 7 to 9 feet. This bean is a heavy yielder, easy to shell, and is a reliable producer in hot, humid areas. 80 Days.
