Perennial vine, related to the garden cucumber
Ornamental or deco-cucumber. The amazing fruits look like kiwano (C. metuliferus) but are much smaller and in northern areas C. carolinus is much easier to grow.
It is an early species, late summer the first fruits can be picked. The plant is not a real climber but more a trailing type. Fruit size is approximate 3 inches. The light green fruits have spectacular large yellow spines. Keep for several months.
