This plant is a hemi-parasitic herbaceous annual plant that gains some of its nutrients from the roots of neighboring plants. It grows to 10-20” inches tall, with opposite, simple leaves, with a serrated margin. The flowers are yellow, produced on a terminal raceme.
Its preferred habitat are meadows and fields, mountain summits and plateaus, talus and rocky slopes, where its flowering period is between June and September. Zones 4-9.
