Also known as Black and White Poppy, Papaver orientale ‘Royal Wedding’ has pure white petals with a prominent contrasting black splotch at the base of each, which adds an element of drama to your perennial garden, bed or border. The big 4-8" ruffled white flowers appear in late spring and early summer atop 2 – 4 Ft stems creating an eye-catching display.
Tight buds cut in early morning are longer lasting when used in arrangements. Sear the cut ends of the stems before placing them in water.
The oriental Poppies are the most accommodating garden plants, vigorous and succeeding on light or heavy garden soils provided that it is not waterlogged.
