Nelumbo nucifera pink, or the sacred Lotus, is conducive to the ponds and water gardens.It is an aquatic perennial, originally from Indonesia and India. The big circular leaves are floating at the surface and produce large fragrant magnificent pink flowers that open in the morning and the petals fall back in the afternoon. The plant is firmly rooted in the mud and although tropical, it can be grown in cooler zones if the rhizome can be covered and protected sufficiently to keep from freezing.
Dried flower pods are the shaped like pepper pots and are striking in flower arrangements. Every part of the plant may be used medicinally. Easy to grow from seeds.
