Also known as Royal Poinciana, this is a wide spreading umbrella-like canopy tree that can be wider than it's height, a big bonsai. It can tolerate hard pruning and can be kept small to even grow in a greenhouse.
Very fast growing, about 5 feet a year. Needs full sun, is drought tolerant, though it does like water during the growing season. Should not be exposed to temps below 30 degrees F. Bright scarlet red flowers bloom for weeks into Spring and Summer!
